Liverpool could be preparing to hijack Man Utd’s attempt to sign Goncalo Inacio, according to reports in Portuguese media.
Apparently the Reds scouted the 22-year-old defender while on international duty for Portugal during last week’s Euro 2024 qualifier against Bosnia.
United had reportedly been considering Inacio as a possible replacement for Harry Maguire, who is expected to leave the club in January.
However, with Joel Matip’s contract due to expire in the summer, Jurgen Klopp will be on the lookout for a replacement in the New Year and Inacio may well be the one.
After strengthening the midfield over the summer, it is going to be essential the defence is bolstered going into the second-half of the season as the Reds look to push for the Premier League title and Champions League qualification next season.
