Liverpool legend Sir Kenny Dalglish has confirmed he is undergoing treatment for cancer. The 75-year-old shared the news on Tuesday after accidentally revealing the diagnosis in an earlier social media post.
In a statement, Liverpool Football Club said: “The support, best wishes and love of everyone at Liverpool FC are, and will be, with Sir Kenny and his family.”
Dalglish addressed the accidental announcement with his trademark wit. He explained that his treatment is going well, unlike his mobile phone skills. While he had hoped to keep the matter private, he joked that his useless technology skills forced his hand.
He asked that the privacy of his family be respected moving forward and praised the incredible care and discretion of the medical staff, calling them a credit to their profession.
