Slot claims board support amid losing streak

Arne Slot has used his pre-match press conference ahead of the Fulham fixture to insist he retains the “complete support” of the Liverpool hierarchy, and also the club’s fans.

The Reds have endured a dismal run, suffering three consecutive defeats without scoring a single goal.

The slump began with a 4-0 FA Cup thrashing at Manchester City, followed by a Premier League loss to Brighton, and most recently, a 2-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League quarter-final first leg.

Despite the mounting pressure, Slot remains defiant, stating that the relationship with ownership is as strong as ever.

“I’m repeating myself a lot, but I feel a lot of support. Not only from the owners but from Richard [Hughes] and Michael [Edwards]. A lot of support from them but as weird as it might sound, I also feel the support from the fans,” said Slot during Friday’s presser at the AXA Training Ground.

“In Paris when the players went out for the warm-up and after the 4-0 loss [against Manchester City] the fans immediately started singing ‘we love Liverpool’.

“I think it’s fair to say we were outplayed for 90 minutes and they were still singing and clapping for us.

“I’ve said it many times, the club knows the period of time we’re in and in the meantime, I feel complete support.”

He acknowledged that the team is in a “difficult season” but emphasised that the focus is on a rapid turnaround.

With the race for Champions League places tightening, Slot is desperate to stop the rot this weekend at Anfield, knowing that another slip-up could make his position increasingly precarious as the season enters its final stretch.
