Mo Salah‘s AFCON journey is almost over. After Egypt’s semi-final defeat to Sadio Mane‘s Senegal, Mo Salah will lead his country in the third-placed play-off game against Nigeria on Saturday, before heading back to Liverpool.
It will almost certainly be too late for Salah to play any part in Wednesday night’s Champions League trip to Marseille, but all being well he should be back in the first team squad for next weekend’s Premier League clash at Bournemouth.
First of all he has to play another big game for Egypt on Saturday,” said Arne Slot in Friday’s pre-Burnley press conference. “Then he comes back to us and I’m happy he comes back. Mo has been so important for this club, so I’m happy that he’s back. Even if I had 15 attackers I would still have been happy he would come back.”
Before he left for AFCON, Salah and Slot appeared to have resolved their differences, but hopefully he will return in better spirits and prepared for the challenge ahead, as the Reds look to ensure Champions League qualification next season, a good run in the Champions League and possibly silverware in the FA Cup.
