Dominik Szoboszlai has spoken about the talks he is having with the club regarding a contract extension.
The Hungarian midfielder joined Liverpool for £60m on a 5-and-a-half year deal from RB Leipzig in 2023 and, while there’s still plenty of time left on that, the club will be keen to agree terms on a renewal soon.
Allowing Trent Alexander-Arnold to run down his contract last season was a massive mistake and it’s also likely we will lose Ibrahima Konate in similar circumstances this summer, with the French defender out of contract in June and Real Madrid no doubt preparing to swoop.
“Of course, but there are always talks,” said Szoboszlai. ‘You guys in the media make a lot for the people and you keep on going because that’s your job but there has been talks but for sure not any decision has been made.
“There is always progress but no decision has been made and I’ll just keep on going every week, every training, giving my best for the team, for the fans. Let’s see what is going to happen in the future.
“I am happy here but you know how football works and that is something everybody has to take into account.”
It’s too early for an agreement to be made on a new contract for Szoboszlai, but its a relief to know that talks are starting now.
