Alisson Becker has been ruled out of Liverpool’s Champions League last 16 first leg against Galatasaray after picking up an injury during training on Monday.
The Brazilian stopper reportedly experienced minor discomfort following Monday’s session, prompting the club to leave him behind rather than risk further aggravation on the trip to Istanbul.
This setback marks the tenth match Alisson has missed due to injury this season.
In his absence, Giorgi Mamardashvili is expected to step in for his first start since the 4-1 FA Cup victory against Barnsley two months ago.
The summer signing has made 10 appearances so far this term, including four outings in the Champions League.
Interestingly, Mamardashvili’s European experience includes a previous appearance against Galatasaray, where he replaced the injured Alisson during a 1-0 defeat in September.
