Liverpool could be poised for a significant financial windfall following massive transfer activity at Manchester City.
City are in the process of completing a blockbuster £116m deal for Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson, a move that has left a massive void in the Forest midfield.
According to The Daily Mail, they have earmarked Curtis Jones as their primary target to replace Anderson.
Jones is entering the final 12 months of his contract at Anfield, which has significantly lowered his market valuation to around £35 million.
While the 25-year-old academy graduate previously voiced a desire to spend his entire career at the Reds, head coach Andoni Iraola appears willing to sanction a sale to generate extra funds for his summer squad rebuild.
Liverpool have already rejected a lower £21.7 million verbal approach from Inter Milan, but Forest’s newly-acquired cash reserves mean they are ready to meet the club’s full asking price.
